A Temporary Place

The River Severn, with its tidal flow, sandbanks and amazing wildlife, its trees, reeds, driftwood and man-made objects demonstrates the perpetual changes going on in nature. There is a subtlety to these changes that can be experienced by repeated visits and careful observation of everything that goes on. It can be rewarding to find and create a striking pictorial shot but photography becomes more relevant when it reveals something beyond the initial visual impact. What’s captured then may only speak to me as the photographer. Its meaning is very personal, reflecting the moment it was observed and the shutter was pressed. The subtlety of the changes that took place at that instance is inextricably linked to the experience of being there.
